Bylaw 0142 Election/Appointment

Nominees for Board membership must be registered voters, and reside in the School Board Residence District from which they are to be elected unless running "at large". Nominees must have resided in the State of Indiana for two (2) years, and in the School Corporation for one (1) year, immediately before their taking office by appointment or election. In accordance with I.C. 20-26-4-11 no member of the Corporation's professional or support staff is eligible for election to this School Board.
 

Pursuant to I.C. 20-23-8-10 (a)(2), the Indiana State Board of Education, on October 4, 2017, approved the governing body reorganization of the Carmel Clay School Corporation to conform to the boundaries of the Residence Districts as outlined hereafter and identified as Carmel Clay 1, Carmel Clay 2, and Carmel Clay 3. In addition, the residence districts may be described by reference to streets or other geographical features, but the map shall control any discrepancy between the map and the description. The description of the districts is as follows:

 

Carmel Clay 1: Starting at the intersection of Ditch Road and 146th Street, then south on Ditch Road to Main Street, then east on Main Street to River Road, then south on River Road to White River, then generally east along the course of the Vestal Ditch to the White River, then generally north along the White River to 146th Street, then west along 146th Street to Ditch Road, the point of beginning.

 

Carmel Clay 2: Starting at the intersection of 146th Street and the western boundary line of Clay Township, then east along 146th Street to Ditch Road, then south along Ditch Road to Main Street, then east along Main Street to River Road, then generally east along the course of the Vestal Ditch to White River, then generally south along the course of the White River to 116th Street, then west along 116th Street to Ditch Road, then north along the west boundary line of Clay Township to 146th Street, the point of beginning.

 

Carmel Clay 3: Starting at the intersection of 116th Street and the western boundary line of Clay Township, then south along the western boundary line to 96th Street, then east along 96th Street to the White River, then generally north along the course of the White River to 116th Street, then west along 116th Street to the western boundary line of Clay Township, the point of beginning.

The time of election shall be staggered so that the three (3) members from residence districts will be elected at one general election and two (2) at large members at the next succeeding general election. All registered voters shall be entitled to vote on each board member, whether from a residence district or at-large.
