Administrative Guideline - 4751b Pregnant Students

The pregnant student shall notify the principal and/or his/her agent as soon as pregnancy has been verified.

The principal shall protect to the fullest extent possible, the health, safety, and welfare of the prospective mother and the unborn child.

The principal shall protect to the fullest extent possible, the best interests of the other students.

The principal shall consult with student personnel services regarding the welfare of any pregnant student. In addition, s/he shall consult with the student's physician, husband (and/or parents), and other appropriate parties in determining the date of official withdrawal.

The principal shall assist the pregnant student to the fullest extent possible, to further her education during this period of time.

The date that the pregnant student may return to school shall be established by the principal in a similar manner given in the fourth paragraph. The principal may request a written statement from a physician concerning the health of the student.
