4350 Student Suicide Prevention
· The District cooperates with the larger community in regards to mental health including suicide prevention services.
o Information regarding such services located in the community can be found on the Carmel Clay Website, www1.ccs.k12.in.us/district/currentfamilies/student-support-services
o Further information available regarding crisis intervention referral is available to students, parents and district employees by way of the student services personnel in each building.
o Staff who need crisis support may access the Employee Assistance Program (EAP) by contacting their respective building administrator.
· The District provides counseling services for students and families related to suicide prevention.
o The district partners with the Hamilton County Community Mental Health Agency to ensure access and availability of services.
· The District recognizes the relationship between suicide and drug and alcohol use.
o The plan, training, and any other program authorized under policy 4350 shall increase awareness of this correlation
· The District will provide evidence-based training to employees servicing students in grades 5-12, every three years, consistent with Indiana Code.
o The training will address: warning signs and tendencies that may show evidence a student is considering suicide.
